Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a Senior Architectural & Design (A&D) Specification Salesperson in Chicago, IL.  In this position, you would be a key part of the North American Specification team, helping to drive a growing business.  You will educate Specifiers, such as Architects and Interior Designers, on Lutron product benefits and our world-class customer support services.  A successful Specifications Salesperson will have the following responsibilities:


  • Develop new relationships with Architects and Interior Designers to uncover business opportunities in our commercial sector. Vertical markets include but are not limited to Hospitality and Commercial offices

  • Independently develop account strategies to drive sales

  • Maintain and develop senior level /top-to-top relationships with accounts

    • Leverage those relationships to secure and close single-name specifications and to establish long-term, repeatable business for Lutron.

  • Surround project specifications through effective communication with team members, internal business units, channel partners, and other specifying or end-user influencers

  • Represent Lutron at Industry trade organizations such as AIA, IIDA, and USGBC

    • Leverage your relationships or positions within these organization to enhance the reputation of Lutron.

  • Become a technical expert on Lutron products for our customers, with an emphasis on our shading solutions

  • Manage assigned account profiles/contacts and opportunities in Salesforce.com to facilitate direct marketing activities and support project management 

  • Stay aligned to Lutron’s culture and values

  • BS/BA in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering or related degree preferred (minimum 2.8 GPA) with 15+ years of technical sales or industry experience desired 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical products, their benefits, and specifications

  • Experience solving complex problems within a team environment

  • Lighting design and Architectural experience is a plus

    Knowledge of architectural/construction industry is preferred
