Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a Business Developer, Residential and Hospitality Interior Designers, based in the New York market. In this position, you would be accountable for growing and supporting the business generated by residential and interior designers/hospitality designers by working across the Lutron Sales, Communications, and Business Units to develop and execute strategies and solutions targeted at this audience, all while building and nurturing client relationships to generate long-term repeat business.
Define & implement Lutron’s strategy for winning in Interior design with Commercial Shades, Ketra, and myRoom.
Develop and nurture relationships with key interior design firms to generate specifications and sales
Build and maintain principal level relationships at A and D firms
Work with Lutron, Rep sales teams and dealers to increase specifications and sales through:
Coaching and mentoring salespersons on how to successfully sell to interior designers
Develop sales narratives that support brand and product initiatives
Instill an appreciation of design in our salesforce to build a common language with client
Assist in planning local events and tradeshows geared towards interior designers
Build Lutron brand awareness and allegiance through fostering relationships, hosting events, and building industry partnerships
Work cross functionally with the training department to define and conduct an interior design and luxury salesperson training curriculum
Work with corporate marketing communications organization to scale messaging and launch solutions across the architectural salesforce
Drive Voice of the Customer activities to both validate market understanding and mine unmet customer needs for new product, service, and solution development to drive growth.
Support Lutron Product Managers and Marketing teams for product launches
Bachelor’s degree in design field (ie B. Arch / BSAD / M.Arch or an equivalent interior design or art degree)
10+ years of prior A and D sales or industry experience
Experience in the design field at an architecture, interior design firm, lighting design firm, museum, gallery or media publication
Demonstrated ability to learn technical products in the design field, their benefits, and specifications
Demonstrated ability to develop new customer relationships and business opportunities
Experience solving complex problems within a team environment
Integrator who can work across the organization to accomplish goals
A strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the luxury market
