You’ll work with teams across the organization to imagine and build innovations for Lutron’s customers, designing for a variety of platforms, devices, and services, and exploring new technologies like AR, VR, voice, and more. 

Responsibilities

As a Principal UX Designer, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects at the intersection of the physical and digital world. Your primary responsibilities will be to: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines to ensure alignment as you define and drive the experience design vision, strategy, and execution for multiple products 
  • Guide and lead every aspect of the UX design, including creating and reviewing conceptual models, storyboards, wireframes, high fidelity prototypes, and other design deliverables across multiple concurrent projects 
  • Coach and mentor UX Designers of various levels 
  • Ensure use of best practices for UX design 
  • Work closely with user researchers to ensure generative and evaluative research are used for decision making 
  • Work closely with UI designers to ensure the right emphasis is placed on various design elements for intuitive user experience   
  • Use and contribute to existing enterprise design systems and UI standards 
  • Consult with engineering teams throughout development to ensure the delivery of high-quality UX designs 
  • Advocate for human-centered design practices including user research and accessibility 
  • Actively participate in the internal UX Community of Practice 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Computer Science or closely related field; Graduate degree preferred 
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all degrees earned  
  • 12+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years mentoring designers 
  • Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, and prototyping 
  • Expertise using common tools such as Figma and Miro 
  • Background working in an agile development environment 
  • Experience with a range of technologies, including mobile and web apps
