Ketra, a Lutron Electronics company, has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer Leader at our Breakthrough Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing (BEAM) facility in Austin, TX.  In this position, you will drive the creation and refinement of new manufacturing processes utilizing the latest technology in the industry.  You will collaborate with a cross-functional team, utilizing problem-solving skills to set the foundation for a reliable, scalable, and profitable manufacturing infrastructure for years to come.


  • Lead team of Mfg engineers and technicians transform our Austin mfg site into our future vision of a high tech manufacturing site and new product launch site.   
  • Work with our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team to develop all processes for scale production in Lutron’s first die attach and wire bond production line used to make in-house developed LED light engines.  
  • Accountable to scale and automate Ketra’s proprietary and industry leading product color calibration process to support a high-performance long-term production process in Austin.  Develop the tools/equipment/team to be capable of quick adaptation for new products and leverage the advantages of local production. 
  • Drive strategic improvement projects to support continuous improvement of the lighting manufacturing processes 
  • Develop and implement a Manufacturing Software System strategy to utilize and homegrown and enterprise solutions to drive quality and efficiency. 
  • Plan and execute assembly line design for new Ketra product introductions.  Work closely with Lutron engineering development teams on convergence of requirements and coordination of development schedules. 
  • Support the engineering teams with Lutron’s other production facilities to coordinate transfers of products from prototype to scale production. 
  • Maintain strong connection to the business and engineering leadership.  Support the development of ongoing coordinated strategy between business requirements, product development and sales growth. 
  • Develop a strong connectivity with Lutron’s manufacturing engineering leadership at other sites. Lead our small but growing local manufacturing engineering team and be accountable for ongoing recruitment to the team.  


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) with a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing process development 
  • 3+ years of experience managing/supervising an engineering team. 
  • Demonstrated capability in running operations/production initiatives from project kick-off to fully implemented solutions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Detail oriented with a “root cause” driven approach to solutions 
  • Capable of wearing many hats and juggling multiple priorities 
  • Previous experience supervising others 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, work ethic and hands-on attitude 
  • Creative and analytical approach to problem solving 
  • Driven self-starter who is goal-oriented, inquisitive and flexible 
  • Willingness to travel 10%
