Process Development Technician

Lutron electronics Co., Inc. has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Process Technician in our production facility located in Austin, TX. In this position you will provide  technical and process support of our 1st shift production while driving improvement in KPI's of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. 


  • Technical process owner for manufacturing processes including testing, scanning, printing, assembly tooling, and process-specific software applications.
  • Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance programs are in place, working with equipment support. Coaching and development of equipment support on the maintenance program.
  • Responsible for process safety and quality, together with local HSE lead and Quality lead. Identify safety risks and work to mitigate, drive continuous improvement to process safety and quality.
  • Drive product transfers in or out of the facility as required, together with sending or receiving technical resources.
  • Project management for larger technical projects, coordinating cross-functional efforts and/or outside services to keep projects on track for successful completion.
  • Drive process improvements for the benefit of plant performance. Work with leadership team on priorities, planning, and execution of improvements to benefit safety, quality, cost, and customer delivery. 
  • Planning and budgeting for technical spending, including annual expense budgets and capital budgets, as inputs to the Plant Manager on annual budget planning.


  • 2 or 4-year technical degree with a 2.7 GPA or higher and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing process support role preferred or a high school diploma/equivalent and a minimum of 12 years experience in a manufacturing process support role

  • Strong aptitude in troubleshooting, rebuilding, and maintaining various manufacturing equipment

  • Skills in electrical troubleshooting, building, or design

  • Strong interest in operations and manufacturing

  • Experience in AutoCAD or Creo preferred, willingness to learn AutoCAD

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Strong multi-tasking skills, ability to manage projects concurrently with tactical activities

  • Strong computer skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
